There is something about beautiful images that allows them to convey information, induce empathy, and incite action like no other means of communication. For these reasons, I believe that photography has a powerful role to play in helping to solve global challenges, including the reduction of poverty.
My ongoing quest to understand and develop this potential began while working overseas in various agricultural and food security projects. The first collection on this page features select images from these projects. As an agricultural economist and development researcher, I seek to find ways to integrate photography into research. Check out the “Mali Cereals Research” and “Michigan Agriculture” collections for information and images from this ongoing project.
